Background
InTouchLink is a cloud-based resident engagement and communication platform primarily designed for senior living communities. As the product's UX/UI designer, I was responsible for improving existing experiences and designing new features that modernized the application while maintaining consistency across the platform.
The Challenge

The existing experience had several limitations
- No support for media sharing
- No centralized media library
- Limited group messaging
- No quick access to contact details
- Outdated visual design
- No mobile experience
Design Goals
Rather than reinventing the experience, the objective was to extend the existing product with familiar messaging patterns while maintaining consistency with the broader platform.
- Modernize the interface
- Expand communication capabilities
- Simplify common workflows
- Support desktop and mobile
- Preserve consistency with the existing application
Design Highlights
Visual Refresh
Before refining the final interface, I explored different visual layouts and interaction patterns to determine how new messaging features could fit naturally within the existing application.

I developed a new color palette and textures based on existing InTouchLink printed media. Introduced some accessibility improvements such as increased color contrast and simplifying common interactions.

Rich Messaging
Expanded conversations with image previews, file attachments, and inline media and replies while preserving a clean, familiar chat experience.

Centralized Media Library
I introduced a centralized media library in the desktop version that allows users to browse previously shared images and documents without searching through long conversations.

Simplified Group Messaging
Replaced the existing group creation flow with a modal allowing users to choose their group type and limiting steps to completion.

Responsive Design
Designed a responsive messaging experience optimized for smaller screens while maintaining feature parity with desktop.
